Maria Silvia Vaccarezza Ăš Ricercatrice a tempo determinato in Filosofia Morale presso l’UniversitĂ  di Genova.  Attualmente, dopo essersi occupata di attenzione e immaginazione in etica, con particolare riferimento ad Iris Murdoch, sta affrontando alcuni temi centrali della contemporanea virtue ethics, tra cui: il ruolo della phronesis, l’unitĂ  delle virtĂč, l’esemplaritĂ  morale e l’ammirazione per gli esemplari. Fa parte del comitato scientifico di “Etica & Politica – Ethics & Politics”. E’ segretaria del centro di ricerca interuniversitario “Aretai – Center on Virtues”, e membro del Collegio docenti del Consorzio dottorale FINO. Inoltre, Ăš Tesoriera della SIFM e membro della SFI, della SIFA, dell’American Philosophical Association e del gruppo di ricerca veneziano del CISE (Centro Interuniversitario di Studi sull’Etica). Ha trascorso periodi di ricerca presso l’UniversitĂ  di St. Andrews (UK) e il Thumos research group dello Swiss Center for Affective Sciences dell’UniversitĂ  di Ginevra (CH).

Maria Silvia Vaccarezza is Assistant Professor of Moral Philosophy. After developing a research focused on attention and imagination in ethics, with particular reference to  Iris Murdoch, she is currently working on central issues within the virtue-ethical debate, including: the role of phronesis, the unity of the virtues, moral exemplarity and admiration for exemplars. She is part of the scientific committee of the journal”Etica & Politica – Ethics & Politics”. She is secretary of Aretai – Center on Virtues, member of the teaching board of the FINO Phd Consortium, Treasurer of the Italian Society of Moral Philosophy (SIFM), of the Italian Philosophical Society (SFI), of the Italian Society of Analytical Philosophy (SIFA), of the American Philosophical Association (APA), and of CISE – Centro Interuniversitario di Studi sull’Etica. She has been visiting scholar at the University of S. Andrews (UK) and at the Thumos research group of the Swiss Center for Affective Sciences, University of Geneva (CH).
